Carrera, 21, signed with Dallas in February 2022 but had yet to make an MLS appearance.
He played in 43 matches for MLS NEXT Pro affiliate North Texas SC, including a 2024 league championship.
Carrera's departure leaves Michael Collodi as the only reserve behind starting netminder Maarten Paes.
